If you live in the Philadelphia area, it should’t be a surprise that Silver Linings Playbook was filmed here! Yes, it was folks. As a native, this movie is one of my favorites of all time. There’s a certain familiarity and comfort level that comes with knowing where the scenes were filmed. I am also madly in love with Robert De Niro, so say what you must.

I interviewed Emily Lawrenson from Jefferson University in East Falls, Philadelphia, PA. The university is only a short drive from the Llanerch Diner home of one of the most iconic scenes from Silver Linings Playbook. In the scene, Jennifer Lawerence (Tiffany) and Bradley Cooper (Pat) can be seen having a heated argument while eating Raison Bran and drinking tea. If you’re ever in the Upper Darby area stop by for a story to tell later.

As a local Emily has visited the diner on occasion, I decided to ask her about her experiences.

Q: Hi Emily! I heard you have visited the Llanerch Diner home of the famous Silver Linings Playbook. What can you tell me about your experience?

A: It was crazy that I recognized it right away because of the movie. The people that work there are so nice, and of course I had to sit in the booth where the actors did so I kindly asked to move and they were so nice about it.

Q: What would you recommend having to eat?

A: No matter the time of day, pea soup and an omelette.

Q: Is there a certain feeling you get by coming to this place? Nostalgic at best?

A: I have to say that going there at night time is so much fun. They have a little tv in the background which is usually playing jeopardy and its usually the least crowded. The old time feel and decor of the place just makes you feel like your at a mom and pop dinner.

Q: Can you tell me about the booth you can sit in from the iconic scene in the film?

A:  The booth is definitely sat in a lot because the best movie was filmed there. They have a plaque hanging on the window that displays that the characters were sitting in that exact seat. I think the first time I sat there I had to order the Raisin Bran cause it just felt right.

Thanks Emily! I will be stopping by the diner soon…

Make sure to see for yourself the Llanerch Diner for a memorable meal!
